NYC’s first fatal shooting comes less than 3 hours into New Year

Not three hours into 2015, New York City reported its first homicide, police said Thursday.

A 26-year-old man was found about 2:55 a.m., unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from gunshot wounds to the head and torso in the lobby of St. Mary’s Park Houses, located at 671 Westchester Ave. in the Bronx, according to NYPD.

The victim, identified as Herb Huntley, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Huntley lives about a quarter mile away from where he was gunned down, police said.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
